The Importance of Being Earnest: SIUC, 2000

The challenge in designing Earnest was being able to create three different scenes complete with three sets of furniture. Our stock and budget didn't allow this so I created a two-sided revolve unit with removable panels, fireplace, and drapery for Act I. The set was spun in full view of the audience during intermission, revealing the doors and windows of Jack's Act II country manor. The Act I elements were also removed during intermission without the audience's awareness, revealing shelves and bookcases for Act III. This is the 1/2" scale white model for Act I. I chose to create the model in this scale to help the director understand the choreography of the a vista scene changes that I envisoned.
