The Women of Troy: SIUC, 1995

I was both costume and scenic designer for this new translation by Frederick Williams. I was looking forward to designing a classic Greek production, when the director, Christian H. Moe, said he wanted to set the play in Vietnam with the Greeks as Americans and the Trojan women as Asians. This gave me pause until I started to research the ancient architecture and costumes of southeast asia. A picture of the ruins of Angor Wat became the inspirataion for the set design.
