Mezzitino is the Commedia Dell Arte figure we adopted as our logo here at Southern Illinois University Theater. I made this mask for the mascot character we created several years ago. The base is a water-activated fiberglass net, which has replaced traditional plaster gauze bandages. This material is very lightweight, flexible and isn’t affected by sweat. The features were built up with hot glue and painted with a thick acrylic paint.
